The toys, carefully arranged on the shop shelves, are waiting to be added to Santa Claus' bags. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission shared that two models of Orb Funkee Squeeze Toys are being recalled because of concerns of "serious injury or death." The affected toys were sold at Walmart and Ollie's Bargain Outlet stores between February 2025 and April 2026.

Why Was a Recall Issued For the Squeeze Toys?

The recall applies to two specific models of Funkee Monkee squeeze toys. Both models contain sand that may have asbestos, which "can cause adverse health issues if inhaled."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, asbestos fibers are too small to see. If you are exposed to them, they can become trapped in the lungs. This can lead to lung cancer, mesothelioma, asbestosis, scarring in the lungs, and pleural disease.

So far, no injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with the toys.

Which Squeeze Toys Are Being Recalled?

The notice states that more than 121,000 of the Orb Funkee Squeeze Toys are part of the recall. This includes a large golden Funkee Monkee and smaller Funkee Monkee models. The latter model comes in several colors. You can view images of the affected models here

If you want to verify whether you have one of the Orb Funkee Squeeze Toys affected by the recall, you can check the date code on the toy. Recalled models will have the code 3102491A. It can be found on the hand of the large golden Funkee Monkee or on the back of the smaller model.

If you have one of the toys affected by the recall, you and your child should stop using it immediately. If the toy is broken or sand has escaped, it is recommended that you wear a mask and gloves when picking it up. Then double-bag the sand, toy, cloths, gloves and mask, and seal it with tape before disposing of it.

You can contact the manufacturer, The Orb Factory, to request a refund at [email protected]. You will be asked to confirm the model and date code and to place the toy into a heavy-duty plastic bag sealed with tape. Then email a photo of the toy in the sealed bag to the address above.
