Detroit alternative rock group Sponge revealed Wednesday, Oct. 21, that its members discovered the theft after spending the night at a Holiday Inn in College Park, Maryland. They had recently performed alongside Candlebox at The Fillmore Silver Spring. It was part of the Can't Quit You Tour.
However, the musicians woke up to discover that several valuable instruments had disappeared from their trailer.
"It happened again, we got robbed!!!"
a post on the band's Facebook page read. "Silver Springs, Maryland, Holiday Inn. They got guitars and a bit more. The cops aren't here yet, so we're not exactly sure what's all gone. For sure they got our guitars."The musicians shared photographs of the stolen equipment while asking followers to spread the word and watch for the missing instruments. Among the stolen items were three Reverend guitars, including a vintage orange Reverend Commando, a black Reverend Pete Anderson Eastsider S and an avocado-colored Reverend Warhawk.
The band also reported losing a black Fender Jaguar bass, a black Fender Precision bass and a black Fender Stratocaster. According to Michigan radio station Cars 108, the equipment disappeared sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning while the trailer was parked outside the hotel.

Guitarist Andy Patalan also shared information about the theft on social media, hoping the public could help locate the missing gear.
The band indicated that it was still determining the full extent of the losses.
At the time of its initial announcement, police had not yet arrived to investigate the reported theft. It remains unclear whether security cameras captured the incident or whether investigators have identified any suspects.
No arrests or recovered instruments had been publicly confirmed in the initial reports. The theft comes at an especially inconvenient time for Sponge, which is currently touring alongside fellow 1990s rock act Candlebox.
The bands have several performances remaining on their schedule, including stops in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and Massachusetts.
Their tour is scheduled to conclude Oct. 30 at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey.
