Have you ever seen the Walking Dead? Well, there's one pretty iconic scene from its very beginning that lends itself quite well to Halloween decorations. In case you haven't, let's set the scene.
The show is set in a zombie apocalypse, with the main character, Rick Grimes, having woken up from a coma after it started. The show begins with him as he stumbles through the hospital, trying to figure out what has happened.
The very first episode of the show sees him come across a barricaded door that has something terrifying (but admittedly confusing for Grimes, since he isn't properly aware there's a zombie apocalypse going on) scrawled on the door:
DONT OPEN DEAD INSIDE
With a little bit of inference, you've likely figured out that that means there were zombies behind that door. But, strip that of context, and you'd assume that there was a dead body behind them, right?
Well, that gets us to the pretty wild situation that recently occurred. Halloween is upon us, which means that spooky decorations are all the rage, and Walking Dead is a zombie franchise... it fits, right?
One person had the bright idea to do an inexpensive yet effective Halloween decoration by painting those same words right onto their garage door.

A Passerby Thought the 'Walking Dead' Decoration Meant Something Sinister
A video posted on TikTok by Ali, who this wild incident happened to, detailed what happened next. The incident appeared to have happened in the UK.
She shared video doorbell footage of police first coming up to her house and inspecting her garage. One officer is seen saying, "I'm sure that's from a film!" with another agreeing, "Yeah, it's from the 'Walking Dead'."
The officer then rings the doorbell and says, "Um, we've just had a call about a dog walker that was concerned walking past the house because on the garage it says, 'Don't open, dead inside'?"
Of course, the homeowner is absolutely shocked - blurting out, "Oh my god, it's just a Halloween thing!" Of course, the police understand what's happening, so they know nothing nefarious is happening.
"My wife did it for Halloween," the homeowner admits. The officer explains, "We'd rather come out and check and then we can cancel the ambulance." How concerned must that dog walker have sounded after calling the cops?!
But... At least no one was hurt, right?
