The small Rockwell Commander plane took off from Covington Municipal Airport in Newton County in Georgia around 11 pm. However, only twenty minutes later, the tower lost contact with the aircraft. A search was quickly launched.

Only a short distance from the end of the runway, the small plane was found crashed with both people inside killed in the impact. The Covington Police Dept released a statement concerning the fatal incident. "There was no further communication from the aircraft after takeoff. Officers located the aircraft in the woods just north of the runway. Two individuals were located with the aircraft and were pronounced dead at the scene."

The Rockwell Commander private plane is only a small one. It was being flown by a private captain, with only one other passenger. The identities of both people killed in the plane crash have not been revealed.

Small Private Plane Crash Is Just Another In A Series Across The US

It seems like every other day there is another plane crash to report in the US. This small, but tragic, crash comes after one of the worst aviation disasters in the US since 2001. The passenger plane incident over Washington D.C. still has the country reeling.

This small plane crash only resulted in the death of two people. However, it adds to the statistics of plane crashes across the country. Previously, plane travel was widely considered to be the safest way to travel. But, recent events have certainly made changes to public opinion.

The cause of the small plane crash is still uncertain. There is an investigation underway with the NTSB looking into how the incident could have occurred. A spokesperson has spoken to the press about the event.

"NTSB is investigating the February 15 crash of a Rockwell AC11 airplane near Covington, Georgia," they said. "An NTSB investigator is expected to arrive on scene this afternoon." The cause of the plane crash will soon be released.
