Imagine spending an entire weekend in beautiful Colorado, surrounded by country, rock and blues music along with some of the best BBQ the U.S. has to offer. The Pitmaster BBQ and Music Fest, held August 18 through August 19 in Avon, Colorado offers food, fun and gorgeous views. And with one-day passes starting at just $65, it's a bargain.

Located just outside Colorado's Beaver Creek Resorts, the festival grounds are the perfect place to sample BBQ from the most celebrated Pitmasters in the nation. It will also offer a unique experience by being in a resort destination area to take advantage of mountain activities like llama hiking, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, and other summer recreations. It's more than BBQ and music but a rocky mountain vacation getting the best of both worlds.

Leslie Roark Scott, Pitmaster of Ubons BBQ and BBQ Princess, says her fellow Pitmasters are planning special offerings just for the occasion. Other Pitmasters include Big Moe Cason of Ponderosa BBQ, Scott Roberts of Salt Lick BBQ, and Jason Ganahl of GQue BBQ.

"Amazing BBQ and summertime go hand-in-hand and I can't think of a better place to experience both than the beautiful Colorado mountains," Scott said in a press release. "We Pitmasters plan to bring specialty menus representing the best BBQ our state has to offer — an event not to be missed."

The festival will include a wide variety of regional smoked flavored barbecue as well as Colorado's finest offerings including their unfettered taste of craft beers and spirits.

And you won't just be sampling delicious grub. The PITCulinary tent offers special classes throughout the weekend for grill aficionados and beginners. On Saturday, classes include The Art of Grilling for the Family, Easy Desserts Made on the Grill and the Colorado Cocktail Mixology class. You can also chat with your favorite grill masters one on one during the pitmasters meet and greet and sample cheese and spirits during the Smoke Cheese and Wine Tasting.

On Sunday, there's another Pitmasters meet and greet, as well as classes on creating a 4 Pack Dry Rub to Go and Mastering Summertime Craft Beer Cocktails.

Performances of local and national artists are held in the prominent Avon Performance Pavilion on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The full music lineup will be announced soon.

In honor of National BBQ month, the festival is offering special discount passes for a limited time. For a one-day pass use COUNTRY05, for a two-day pass use COUNTRY10, and for a VIP PIT experience use COUNTRY15. The offer expires May 31. Each pass which is a RFID wristband comes with BBQ tokens equal to $1 currency with the power to purchase at entrance.

Travel discounts including those for condos at the Manor Vail Lodge and rooms at the Comfort Inn near the Beaver Creek Resort are also available for festival goers. And the festival is continuing to seek special offers for an awesome summer vacation with BBQ and music.
