Everyone remembers their parents turning around and swearing they will 'turn around unless you kids stop messing about back there.' But did you know that airline pilots can do the same thing with misbehaving adults?

A Reddit user who was flying from LA to Cancun, Mexico, shared their story of a naughty passenger and a fed-up pilot. According to the poster, they had pieced together the problem while listening in on the staff's exasperation. "So on Flight 1340 this morning, a lady decided that (per the gossip I heard from a flight attendant) that she needed to vape a bit in the lav because she was stressed out," they wrote.
Now, I understand that being on a plane isn't the nicest. However, there are rules for a reason. They're essentially overcrowded, inescapable, pressurised tubes. Nobody wants to share a plane with clouds of smoke or a vaping popcorn-smelling passenger.
"While I was taking a whiz, the pilot comes on the air and tells everyone that there's been a smoke alarm in the lav and 'no smoking or vaping or chewing tobacco on the flight," the poster shared. The pilot was having none of it on their flight either.
They issued a threat to the holidaygoing passengers. He told them that "he's upset and this is a federal offense and he's going to turn this plane around and go home if he has to tell us all again. I exit the lav and take my seat, shaking my head in disgust so everyone knows it wasn't me."
Plane Vaping Passenger Gets A Scolding
Despite what the pilot said, vaping actually isn't a federal offense on a plane. But, airlines don't like it. As the Reddit user explained, "the flight attendants knew who it was. When we landed in Cancun, the local airport peeps came on, took her off, and scolded her something fierce." But she wasn't arrested. She was seen getting into a cab not long after.
Obviously, she wasn't going to face jail time for vaping on the plane. She may find that the airline she used won't allow her to use them again, though. Letting her fly is their discretion. Getting back from her holiday may be a little harder than she expected.
