Specifics of Mickelson's Situation Are Still Unclear

The exact details are murky. It's unclear what the length of his stay was or what facility or program he was participating in, but he is now out, per his rep. That person stated to The Post, "Phil was seeking treatment for family trauma and addiction."

In addition, an unspecified family situation sidelined Phil Mickelson from golf during most of this year.

The golf star was also dogged by "allegations of inappropriate conduct" earlier in 2026, per The Post. NBC News notes that he got reportedly barred from The Farms Golf Club in California because of his alleged behavior toward a woman who worked there.

Mickelson's attorney, Tom Locke, pushed back on his behalf. Locke said at the time in a statement per NBC News, "There is a great deal of misinformation circulating and, while Phil's full attention is devoted to a private family health matter, he has retained defamation counsel and is determined to hold accountable any publication or individual trafficking in speculation or false rumors."

There Are Also Questions About Phil Mickelson's Marriage

Mickelson is married with three kids. His wife, Amy, was reportedly noticed in public in July minus her wedding ring, The Post observed at that time. What doffing that meaningful piece of jewelry might signify about the status of the Mickelsons' relationship is unclear.

Per the outlet, Mickelson was also accused of allegedly making advances towards fellow golfer Pat Perez' then-wife. He supposedly did that with an inappropriate photo of himself. That allegedly took place eleven years ago.

After that alleged incident came to light, a rep for Mickelson stated the following. Amy Mickelson "has supported Mr. Mickelson and their family with extraordinary grace, unwavering love, and the belief that people are measured not only by their failures, but by what they do to make them right."
