Boy Dies After Tragic Perth Crash

Police said the boy and the woman were crossing the road when a Toyota Land Cruiser struck them.

The crash occurred outside Miles Park in Cloverdale, a suburb of Perth.

The child was transported to Perth Children's Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The woman was taken to Royal Perth Hospital and remained in a stable condition as of Wednesday morning.

"A friend told us he had tried to run across the road and his mother had tried to save him," local resident Kay Klass said. "I stood there for half an hour to 45 minutes and they were just resuscitating, resuscitating."

According to The West Australian, residents said the boy had been with his mother, father, and older brother when the collision occurred.

Witnesses Describe Devastating Scene

The driver of the Toyota Land Cruiser stopped at the scene and was not injured.

Local resident Emma Kerich said she rushed outside after hearing the impact.

"I heard a very big bang," she said. "I was inside, so I came outside and I quickly ran out, I saw a lady lying down. She was facing down, and a small boy just there in the bus stop, lying down, facing down."

"There was another man with a son just here outside my door, and they were really crying. So I came to check on the lady ... she was bleeding. Then I quickly turned and got inside to get the towels for them."

Kerich said a neighbor had already begun performing CPR on the young boy by the time she reached the scene.

She also recalled seeing two people, believed to be the boy's father and older brother, "crying really, really loud and shaking."

Western Australia Police's Major Crash Unit has launched an investigation into the fatal collision, with further details expected as inquiries continue.
