The 84-year-old Beatles icon appeared on Amy Poehler's podcast, Good Hang, earlier this week. McCartney married his future Wings bandmate in 1969. They would remain together until her 1998 death from breast cancer. Linda was 56.

McCartney fondly looked back on his late wife after Poehler brought up the Prime Video documentary about him, Man on the Run. The SNL alum mentioned the couple's friendship with Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders, which is profiled in the documentary.

"We love Chrissie," McCartney told Poehler. "She's a dude."

"She was just walking down the corridor, and she was very moody with the hair down and sort of wouldn't look at you, but Linda didn't do that," he remembered from first meeting Hynde in the recording studio. "She would approach, 'Hi, how are you doing?'"

"They got talking, and so we met her. And Chrissie stopped being so moody and just talked to us, and we had a lot of stuff in common," he added.

Paul McCartney Sheds Tears Recalling His Late Wife Linda's Gentle Nature with Animals

The "Maybe I'm Amazed" singer got emotional, tearing up as he recalled his and his late wife's passion for animals and staunch vegetarianism.

"Linda was very outspoken on that subject... to the point where if it hadn't been her, it would've been embarrassing," McCartney explained. "If you're at a dinner party and someone was eating meat, she would give them trouble over it."

"She had this kind of Disney-esque view of animals. If we saw a frog in a garden or something, she'd pick it up," a teary-eyed McCartney continued. "Not every girl would. She'd pick it up, and the way — I'm getting emotional — the way she would hold it wouldn't hurt it. And she would say, 'Its mommy loved it.'"

"She was something else. Tough, tough lady," he added, tears fully flowing. A clearly moved Poehler then offered McCartney a tissue.

In the comments on the YouTube post of the episode, longtime fans of McCartney noted the candid, raw moment.

"It is so lovely that he still gets so emotional when he talks about Linda," one top comment read. "Seeing Paul getting upset when talking about Linda broke my heart,' another fan wrote. "I've never felt someone else's love for someone that strongly in my entire life. I literally am bawling."
