An Indiana 13-year-old girl was admitted to a hospital after suffering a mental health crisis following a heated exchange with her mother. When the hospital called the mother, Amanda Osmon, to pick her up, she refused, saying: "I'm not dealing with this s*** tonight!" according to the Daily Mail. Both Osmon and the girl's stepfather, Jeffrey Scheda, were arrested and are facing neglect charges.

The girl arrived at the St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for a mental health evaluation. The outlet reported that she and her mother had engaged in an argument that lasted from Saturday night to the early hours of Sunday, January 26.
After being evaluated, hospital staff members attempted to contact both Osmon, 36, and Scheda, 41, so they could pick up their daughter once she was discharged. However, Osmon allegedly refused to pick up her 13-year-old daughter from the hospital. Moreover, staff members recall allegedly hearing both parents drunk during their conversation.
Parents Charged With Neglect
According to 14News, one social worker talked with Scheda and attempted to have him help Osmon contact the hospital. However, Scheda refused and immediately hung up. Eventually, however, Osmon called back and allegedly acted hostile toward the hospital's staff. That is when she told the social worker: "I'm not dealing with this s*** tonight!"
After continuous refusals to pick the girl, authorities became involved. Police officers arrived at the girl's parent's house and found both Osmon and Scheda heavily intoxicated. They reportedly had been drinking and even passed out while the girl was being mentally evaluated at St. Vincent Hospital.
Not only that, but both Amanda Osmon and Jeffrey Scheda then lied to the police officers about their uncooperative and hostile conversations with the hospital's staff members and social workers, according to the Daily Mail. Reportedly, both thought that their 13-year-old daughter would stay overnight at the hospital. They said she had been admitted to the hospital on past occasions.
Eventually, given their attitude toward the officers and unwillingness to cooperate, police arrested Osmon and Scheda. They charged them both with neglect. They were booked at the Vanderburgh County Jail and were released shortly after.
