Parents are outraged after a racist note was found on a school bus. Now, they want answers.

Despite Spanish being spoken in North America long before English and 13% of the population of the US speaking it as a first language, some people are still averse to the idea of learning it. The racist note left on the school bus, said as much.
Schools are supposed to be a place of learning. It's an opportunity for kids to study, and mix with people they may not otherwise. In a place as diverse as the US, kids can learn new cultures and languages. But, the racist note left on the school bus reportedly forbids the latter.
"Out of respect to English only students there will be NO speaking Spanish on this bus!" the note states. It is further signed "Owner/Management." Parents, on discovery of this, were outraged. They questioned both the bus driver and the agency responsible for their kid's transport.
Actions Taken By The School And Bus Company Over The Racist Note
The racist note left on the bus was not representative of their feelings. It also excluded a very prevalent and important language from their kid's days. Juniata County School District Superintendent Christie L. Holderman took immediate action.
"We are currently investigating the incident thoroughly and are ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to prevent something like this from happening again. It is important to note that this contractor did not represent the values or standards of the Juniata County School District. We remain fully dedicated to providing a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all of our students, both on and off the bus," she reassured parents.
Both the bus driver and bus company have denied any involvement with the racist note. They are also working along with the school to find out who left it.
The real disappointment of this kind of action is the fact that it is letting ignorance overflow into the space of children. Nobody is born bigoted; it is something that is learned. Schools are places of knowledge, and becoming bilingual is a gift that will be with someone forever. It's so easy to learn Spanish in the US, with so many native speakers. It's a shame to miss the opportunity so early on.
