Hopton-Jones called it "the worst day of our lives" in an Instagram post. Fortunately, according to the parenting influencer, who runs the Hillside Farmhouse blog, her son is going to be okay. So what exactly happened?

According to Hopton-Jones, she had been taking her daughter to get donuts. Her son and husband were going to stay home. But her young son, Henry, suddenly ran outside and behind the car. She wrote, "In a matter of seconds, our son was run over by our car."

Parenting Influencer Speaks Out

The young boy ended up with a few pelvic fractures and a few abrasions. But he fortunately will live to tell the tale. The parenting influencer said, "He is hurt, but this is something he can recover from."

Although her son will live, the parenting influencer is struggling with her own guilt over what happened. She's trying to move past it.

"We could drive ourselves crazy with the what ifs, and honestly, we are a little bit," she said. "But accidents happen."

"I keep coming back to what I would tell my own kids one day if this happened to them," she continued. "It would be a lot kinder than the things we're telling ourselves right now."

She's hoping that she can use her story as a cautionary warning to others. Parents can't assume that their little ones will stay put and actually listen to them.

"Do not assume they know or will stay where you last saw them," she warned. "Even when you are not distracted. Even when you are not rushing. It can still happen in the blink of an eye."

She feels lucky it wasn't worse.

"We are holding him a little tighter tonight. We're on the lucky side of a very tragic accident," she also said.
