Josh Jacobs has been released from jail. The Green Bay Packers running back had been held following an alleged domestic violence incident. He was arrested on May 26, and was facing felony charges of strangulation and suffocation, assault.

Jacobs was also facing misdemeanor charges of battery — assault, disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and intimidation of a victim, as reported by PEOPLE.
Currently, no criminal charges have been filed against Jacobs.
"As we previously stated, we encourage everyone to keep an open mind while the matter is fully reviewed," the star running back's attorneys said in a statement. "We remain confident that, once all of the evidence is gathered and evaluated, it will confirm that no charges should be brought against Josh in the future."
In a statement released on Wednesday, May 27, David L. Lasee, the Brown County District Attorney, noted that the DA has requested an additional investigation.
"After reviewing the available evidence in this case, the Brown County District Attorney's Office is not yet prepared to make a formal charging decision," the statement said, per ESPN. "Our office has requested additional investigation, as there is reason to believe that additional evidence may exist that would impact whether criminal charges are appropriate, and what charges would be issued. Mr. Jacobs will be released from custody at this time."
Josh Jacobs Is Entering His Eighth NFL Season
Jacobs entered the NFL in 2019. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders with the 24th pick in the first round. He played in 13 games during his rookie season, finishing second in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting.
The running back remained with the Raiders until 2023, moving with them from Oakland to Las Vegas. During his time with the franchise, he was selected to two Pro Bowl teams and one All-Pro team in 2022.
Jacobs moved to the Green Bay Packers in 2024. He made the Pro Bowl team in his debut season with the franchise. He also finished 16th in Offensive Player of the Year voting in that same season. Jacobs played in 15 games for the Packers during the 2025 season. He's seen as a key part of the team's offensive roster.
Currently, there's no further information regarding the case, with a further investigation now pending.
