Tom Cruise was likely hoping to get the hype going ahead of his long-belated sequel to Days of Thunder. After all, this is the same man who dusted off Top Gun to box-office-defining results. Recently, Cruise announced that Anne Hathaway is joining him on the film.
He recorded a promo with the actor to announce the sequel to the 1990 film. Hathaway has many fans, just don't count original Days of Thunder star Randy Quaid as one of them. Recently, Quaid took to social media to air out his distaste for the announcement.
He said that he was not a happy camper.
"We need Nicole [Kidman] back. Don't be a p---y @TomCruise," he

Kidman and Cruise starred together in the original. But they are not likely to work together again, given their real-world marriage and divorce. Cruise divorced Kidman in 2001. So instead of Kidman, Cruise found a new leading lady for the film.
Quaid wrote, "Anne Hathaway is a leftist, woke, horrible choice for DAYS OF THUNDER NASCAR audience who are MAGA. The sexy older chick for Tom in this film needs to be Nicole. That's the casting that would sell the idea."
"This is a weird thing, like they want it to come out and tank," he added.
As Quaid noted, Hathaway is pregnant with her third child. But she plans to "have this baby, then make the movie." So she won't be pregnant while filming the long-belated sequel. Hathaway will appear as a new team owner. Cruise is reprising his role as Cole Trickle.
It is highly unlikely Quaid will reappear himself in the sequel.
Meanwhile, several commented on Quiad's posts about the film.
One wrote, "Anne Hathaway is the LAST person that should be in this movie."
Another wrote, "Have you seen Nicole lately? She has so much plastic surgery that you don't know if she is smiling or not."
And another wrote, "I thought you died in 1996 fighting aliens."
