"I think me going on Dancing With The Stars would be valuable not so much for the competition aspect, but for the comedy aspect," Lafferty said.
Following Lafferty's admission, professional dancer Ezra Sosa, who is part of DWTS left a humorous reply in the comments.
"He's hot I'm down," Sosa joked.
Sosa's comment caught Lafferty's eye, leading to a second video. However, in that video, Lafferty laid out a specific milestone that would need to be reached before he appeared on DWTS as a contestant.
"More to the point, I've been thinking a lot about this, and I want to do it," he said. "Yeah I'm gonna do Dancing With The Stars. I'm down. I have one condition: that Everyone Is Doing Great makes the top 10 TV shows on Netflix in the U.S."
Lafferty doubled down on his stance.
"I will come do Dancing With The Stars and be happy to do Dancing With The Stars if Everyone Is Doing Great cracks the top 10."
James Lafferty's 'Everyone Is Doing Great' Debuts on Netflix This Month
Let's be fair, Lafferty's stance on jonining Dancing With The Stars is smart marketing. His show, Everyone Is Doing Great, which also features fellow One Tree Hill alum, Stephen Colletti, is set to debut on Netflix this month.
DWTS is one of the biggest reality shows in North America. If it's viewers are genuinley all-in on having Lafferty compete on the show, binge-watching Netflix's latest release is a small price to pay. In return, Everyone Is Doing Great will rank highly in the Netflix charts and get picked up for more seasons.
Everybody wins.
So now, the ball is in all of our courts. It's time to start acting like Brooke Davis or Peyton Sawyer and begin cheerleading for Lafferty's show. Seems like a fair deal.
