"As the old saying goes, we're all heartbroken at the same time," Edwards said. "When someone goes peacefully like that and everything, it's kind of a blessing."
Tommy was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 1984. His work was so good that it didn't remain contained to Canada, and was widely enjoyed around the world, including throughout the United States.
In 1986, Tommy was made a member of the Order of Canada. Outside of being a musician, Tommy was also a renowned television host, with The Tommy Hunter Show running for 27 years, between 1965 and 1992.
Tommy's talents saw him straddle both careers seamlessly. In fact, he continued playing music deep into his life, with his farewell tour occurring at age 75, in 2012. The late country music star is survived by his three children, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Currently, there's no information regarding Tommy's cause of death. Those details will likely remain private.
