Olympian Says He Has Nightmares About Getting His Teeth Knocked Out Again

The Olympian had sustained a crazy injury during the 2026 Winter Olympics against rival Team Canada. He said it was "nightmare fuel".

Olympian and NHL star Jack Hughes has joked about his "nightmares" following his crazy Winter Olympics game. As reported by People, he explained the whole thing in an interview.

In case you missed it, Hughes had a pretty viral moment at the 2026 Olympics' hockey game between Team USA and Team Canada. The US star ended up taking a stick straight to the face, shattering several teeth.

And now, five months later, he's opened up on what happened. "That's nightmare fuel," he recalled about the event. "You don't want that to happen again, but when you play hockey, it's possible."

I think hockey's one of those sports that's so violent, but no one really seems to think of it as such. It doesn't even mean to be - but after all, when there's a load of people skating around with heavy sticks, things are going to get dangerous.

Since the accident, he's managed to have his teeth fixed. "It's been a while with them back... a lot of work in the dentist chair, but it's worth it."

The Olympian Also Opened Up on 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon'

A little closer to when it happened - just a week after - he went on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, alongside his brother and fellow hockey Olympian, Quinn Hughes.

At the time, his teeth were still in quite the sorry state. He recalled what happened directly after the crazy incident.

"I remember Quinn, he was the first guy closest to me. And I remember he came up to me at the TV time-out and he was like, 'It's not that bad, like, it's only chipped,'" he recalled, laughing.

He also revealed that fans found the whole thing quite funny. "When people are coming up for a picture, they're like, 'Smile!'" he laughed.

In the interview with People, the Olympian also revealed how he's been relaxing in the NHL off-season.

"It's been nice, honestly. It's kind of been low-key," he explained. "I know I've been seen in some places, but [I've] kind of just been hanging with my friends and my family, golfing a lot. So just being low-key and hanging out."

We're glad he's feeling better following that crazy injury!
