Old Dominion's fanciful new video for "Shoe Shopping" is a truly a perfect fit for the song.
Directed by their old pal, Steve Condon, the video playfully takes the viewer through a budding relationship. We only get a view from the waist down — which sounds weird, but it's not. The only faces we see are the occasional shots of the band members, but even this is done in a quirky way. It's country music meets La La Land, and it works surprisingly well.
The dancing couple steps from dating to marriage. We get to see everything from the "meet cute" to the new house. Throughout the video, the couple makes it through several pairs of shoes, disagreements and happy occasions. Finally, there's a tiny new pair of shoes that make an appearance.
The music world needs more videos like this. It's downright delightful, and Old Dominion should be applauded for their creativity.
"Shoe Shopping" is the third single off their upcoming album, Happy Endings, due out on Aug. 25. "No Such Thing As A Broken Heart," the first single off the album, is currently climbing up the charts.
