North Dakota State Representative Liz Conmy has tragically died after a small plane crash near Minneapolis. As reported by the New York Post, the incident happened yesterday, Saturday, April 25.
The plane crashed just after taking off from Minnesota's Crystal Airport, which is located just north of Minneapolis. Brooklyn Park Police Inspector Matt Rabe confirmed that officers had responded to a report of a small airplane crash just before noon local time. They had found that an aircraft had crashed and caught fire in the city.
While Rabe didn't confirm the number of people on board, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that two people were aboard. They added that the plane was a Beech F33A small airplane. They said they expected their investigators to arrive at the scene soon.
Her colleague, state Senator Tim Mathern, confirmed the tragic news to local outlets. The North Dakota Democratic-Nonpartisan League Party also confirmed the representative's passing in a statement released on social media. The party is an affiliate of the national Democratic Party.
The statement reads, "We are completely heartbroken and gutted by the loss of Representative Liz Conmy. Her death is a profound loss for our state. As a lawmaker, she championed public education, the environment, and transparency."
