A North Carolina mom, who vanished for 24 years, probably wishes that authorities never found her. She's now in jail after authorities arrested her on an outstanding warrant.

This comes days after authorities found 62-year-old Michele Hundley Smith. The North Carolina mom disappeared in 2001, seemingly abandoning her family in the process. Authorities found her alive and well and promptly took her to jail.
On Wednesday, the Robeson County Sheriff's Office arrested Smith for failing to appear in court 25 years ago. The North Carolina mom was supposed to appear in court on December 27, 2001. This was in connection with a driving while intoxicated charge from a month prior.
However, Smith never showed up for court and fell off the face of the Earth. Now, that she's for all intents and purposes back among the living, the North Carolina mom had to face the consequences for failing to appear.
North Carolina Mom Arrested
Smith since posted bond. She's scheduled to appear in court on March 26. Here's hoping she doesn't try to pull a Houndi act and actually show this time. For more than two decades, authorities searched for Smith after she never came home.
They finally managed to locate her thanks to a tip. Rockingham County Sheriff's Capt. Jonathan Cheek confirmed authorities won't pursue charges over her disappearance. Smith claimed she left over domestic issues.
Smith had two daughters and a son. Her daughter, Amanda, has expressed mixed emotions
on Facebook. She wrote, "I will say that my mother chose her new life and we know she is alive, and for now that is enough."She also said, "we are hurting and going through a lot."
"My dad has been through so many accusations since all the way back then," she wrote. "My father has been through so much and I want it made clear that while their marriage had issues (just as many marriages go through) that my mom did not leave simply bc of a bad marriage."
"As far as my opinions and feelings on my mom... I am ecstatic, I am pissed, I am heartbroken, I am all over the map! Will I have a relationship once more with my mom? Honestly I can't answer that bc I don't even know," she continued.
