Nicolas Cage is living a real-life version of Gone in 60 Seconds, except this time, it involves his $10.5 million Malibu mansion, not a high-end car.

Recently, an enormous sinkhole appeared outside Cage's mansion, and sadly, it has continued to grow. The New York Post has obtained aerial photographs of the situation, detailing just how close the mansion is to collapse.
The photographs show the sinkhole running alongside Cage's mansion. You can see the debris of broken concrete and overturned earth, along with multiple pieces of equipment surrounding the hole. It's very clear that if the sinkhole continues to grow, the mansion will collapse quite quickly.
According to The New York Post, Cage purchased the property for $10.5 million just two years ago. Now, the sinkhole has forced residents from 31 properties to evacuate. Emergency officials are rushing to deal with the structural dangers that the sinkhole has created.
"Malibu officials declared a local emergency at 6 p.m. that day, red tagging seven homes over structural danger and another 24 because emergency vehicles could not safely reach them," The New York Post reports. "The collapse also triggered a gas leak, forcing crews to shut off both gas and water lines."
The sinkhole is believed to be due to "severe coastal erosion." Part of that is due to high tides and waves caused by Hurricane Marie, which washed away large parts of the soil underneath the adjoining roads.

While Cage will undoubtedly be distraught at the situation with his mansion, his attention will likely be split. According to IMDB, Cage has nine upcoming works in the pipeline. That includes the highly anticipated Madden, which is now said to be in post-production.
Other works Cage has going on include Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse, The Prince, Parish, Gambino, and Best Pancakes In The Country, among others.
Nevertheless, Cage will undoubtedly hope that his mansion can be saved from collapsing. Not only due to the high price he paid for the property, but also because there will likely be important possessions within the home that he won't want to lose.
