"Thank you to everyone who has reached out with their prayers and concerns on my behalf," White wrote. "I've undergone successful surgery. For those who know me, y'all know this won't stope me from spreading peace and joy to the world. Full steam ahead. I'm in great spirits and ready to make the most of this off-season."
White's shooting comes just months after he was traded to the 49ers from the New England Patriots. The franchise confirmed it's defensive end had been shot in a statement to The Athletic.
"Keion White was a victim of a shooting and sustained a bullet wound to his ankle this morning in San Francisco," the statement said.
The 49ers were joined in the statement by Evan Sernoffsky, a spokesperson for the San Francisco Police Department.
"Our officers are working diligently on this investigation," Sernoffsky said, "and we're following multiple leads," Sernoffsky said. "A preliminary investigation revealed a verbal altercation occurred between two groups inside a business. The victim was injured when shots were fired by an unknown suspect."
Was Lil Baby Involved in Keion White's Shooting?
A recent article from The San Francisco Standard reported that White was shot following a disagreement with rapper Lil Baby.
"San Francisco 49ers defensive end Keion White was shot early Monday morning at a Mission Street nightclub following an argument involving rapper Lil Baby, according to a police report viewed by The Standard," the report read. "The San Francisco Police Department has not named a suspect."
According to TMZ, investigators have now retrieved footage from surveillance cameras at the scene. The outlet also reported the investigators found a cell phone, a 9 millimeter, and a .45 caliber casing near the scene.
However, White swerved any mention of Lil Baby in his post to Instagram. Currently, all talk of the rapper being involved is unsubstantiated. 49ers fans will undoubtedly hope White can make a full recovery ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
