When speaking with the California Post regarding Belichick's shock omission, Patrick Willis, who is entering this year's Hall of Fame, made it clear that he didn't "have much to say" on the subject.
"They made the decision they made for the reason they did," Willis said. "And it is what it is. We all know there's more to it than just him not getting in. So, like I said, there isn't too much more to really talk on that. That's about it."
Belichick, who is still coaching with the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, has enjoyed a legendary career. During his time in the NFL, he secured six Super Bowls as a head coach. He ranks second all-time for wins, holds the most postseason wins of all-time (31) and is tied for most postseason appearances (19).
It's no surprise that Belichick's omission has come as a surprise to the football community. He's earned his spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, the veteran head coach must now wait another year to see if he can finally secure the 40 votes needed to cement his place among the greats.
Tom Brady Has Slammed Bill Belichick's Omission
When speaking with ESPN following Belichick's omission from the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame, Tom Brady shared his confusion and frustration.
"I don't understand it," Brady said. "I mean, I was with him every day. If he's not a first-ballot Hall of Famer, there's really no coach that should ever be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, which is completely ridiculous because people deserve it. He's incredible. There's no coach I'd rather play for. If I'm picking one coach to go out there to win a Super Bowl -- give me one season -- I'm taking Bill Belichick. So that's enough said."
Brady and Belichick became synonymous with winning during their time together with the New England Patriots. Unfortunately, it would seem that politics is going to force Belichick to wait a little while longer.
Sooner or later, though, one of the NFL's greatest-ever coaches has to be added to the Hall of Legends. After all, the Pro Football Hall of Fame is about career accomplishments, and nobody has more of those than Belichick.
