NFL Creates New Role of Chief Kindness Officer Prior to Super Bowl LX

The NFL has taken some hard knocks lately. They may be in for a few more after creating the role of Chief Kindness Officer.

The NFL has been taking a few hard knocks recently. One came after the announcement of Bad Bunny as the Super Bowl LX halftime performer. Some people thought he was way too edgy a choice for the prominent gig. Another blow to the league's prestige and credibility came recently. Shockingly, former NFL coach Bill Belichick did not get voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on the first ballot. He won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, but that did not put him over the line.

Now comes word that a new role has been created, that of Chief Kindness Officer. That title seems tailor-made for punchlines galore.

The Upcoming Super Bowl Will Be a Bonanza for Creators

Per The Hollywood Reporter, dozens of creators will have the chance to get in on the action at the big game on Sunday, February 8. Their work will be central to bringing the story of one of the most high-profile events in sports to people around the globe.

"As we work with partners like YouTube and Snapchat to bring over 160 creators to the [San Francisco] Bay, we have the unique opportunity to give creators the key to one of the biggest cultural events in the world....," said NFL Senior Vice President of Global Influencer and Content Marketing Ian Trombetta.

Dhar Mann Is the NFL's New Chief Kindness Officer

One of the creators with a major role is Dhar Mann. He is the newly-installed Chief Kindness Officer. Per the outlet, Mann will also have the job of Creator of the Week during the run-up to the Super Bowl's kickoff.

According to the outlet, Mann "will release content on his channels, as well as through the NFL's YouTube channel." His function will be tied to highlighting and encouraging sportsmanship and kindness among spectators and participants.

Mann Is Very Excited About the New Gig

Mann expressed appreciation for the role and enthusiasm about doing it. Per the outlet, he shared, "I'm honored to be appointed by the NFL as its Chief Kindness Officer. I tell hopeful stories, and the Super Bowl has always been about more than football."

He added, "It's one of the rare moments when millions of people are all watching, reacting, and feeling something together... This week is about channeling the passion the NFL is built on into moments of kindness, empathy, and sportsmanship, both on and off the field."

The inaugural project for the Chief Kindness Officer is the "Be Kind to Your Rival" campaign. Fans are urged to be generous in their language about opposing teams and their followers. Per the outlet, "For every qualifying post using #KindnessWinsBig, Mann will donate $1 to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (up to $100,000), a charitable partner of the NFL since 2012."
