A New York cop is in the clink, accused of using Flock cameras to track several personal acquaintances... including her ex.

New York sheriff's investigator Laurie Moore has been arrested, charged with using Flock cameras to dig for her ex-girlfriend's whereabouts about 3,000 times, according to Syracuse.com. The 47-year-old 13-year veteran of the Albany County Sheriff's Office reportedly also ran four other license plates hundreds of times.
Flock cameras, which have become a hot topic in recent months due to their overwhelming prevalence in seemingly every city across America, use AI to scan license plates. In a totally non-dystopian way, police allegedly use the security cameras' data to track citizens... er, criminals.
Now, concerns over police potentially misusing the technology have seemingly come to pass.
Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple told Albany outlet WRGB that Moore was arrested earlier this month after getting a tip outside the department. Sheriff Apple added that Moore had access to the Flock camera system as far back as 2024.
However, Sheriff Apple assured a concerned public that currently, not just any cop can access the controversial camera's findings.
"Now it's only a supervisor. It undergoes an audit process with Internal Affairs, which is reviewed every 30 days. That has to be kicked up to an undersheriff or chief," Sheriff Apple explained.
"What happened here is a breach of that trust," he added. "And for that, I'm truly sorry. But let me be clear. It also demonstrates that when somebody abuses that trust, we'll hold them accountable."

Meanwhile, Moore has been suspended from her position with the Albany County Sheriff's Office following her arrest. She's reportedly charged with misdemeanor counts of second-degree falsifying business records and official misconduct. She's scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 24.
The news follows South Carolina, Mauldin, police officer Ellie Anna Hammond reportedly getting fired for misusing Flock cameras last month. In a story that mirrors the one above, Hammond allegedly used the AI technology to search for an ex's whereabouts 166 times.
Hammond, who had only been with the force since 2024, reportedly gave false reasons (such as traffic violation, welfare check, and warrant check) for using the Flock cameras to track her ex-boyfriend from March to July 2026.
While no criminal charges were reportedly filed, Hammond was fired on Aug. 3.
