After a man from New Jersey shot his married neighbors on Monday, he barricaded himself in his mansion, had a two-hour standoff with the police, then turned the gun on himself. According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer, 54-year-old John Adamo wounded the couple who lived next door.

Man Shoots Married Neighbors, Commits Suicide After Long Police Standoff
This occurred around 4:45 PM after a 911 call notified the cops of two gunshot victims on Drake Drive. Adamo put a bullet in the husband while he was outside, then he shot into their home, wounding the wife. The duo are now hospitalized in critical condition, but luckily, they're still alive.
Soon after, Adamo ran back into his own mansion and barricaded himself inside. Once the SWAT Teams arrived, they surrounded his residence, hoping that Adamo would surrender. It took a gruelling two and a half hours before the SWAT Team members entered the home.
They used an explosive device to blast open the front door. After scouring the home, SWAT members found the suspect unresponsive in his bedroom. Adamo had a self-inflicted gunshot wound, which was the likely cause of death.
The SWAT Team was mostly concerned with the pressure cooker inside the bedroom. That's not a common place for this object to be. In fear that it may be an explosive, the members retreated, bringing in the New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad. Luckily, they determined it wasn't an explosive.
The mystery behind the neighbor's violent actions is still confusing. We're unsure if any neighborly quarrels were happening between Adamo and the married couple. Another neighbor managed to witness the altercation, as reported through an NBC New York interview.
"I heard two very loud gunshots," said the neighbor. "I was walking in the street to warn somebody, and the police arrived."
Although the married couple survived, we don't yet know the severity of their injuries. There's a lot with this case that is still unknown, but as the investigation continues, we should discover more. While the motive is the main concern, the pressure cooker in the bedroom sounds like the real mystery here.
