In the latest chapter, the 45-year-old underwent brain surgery after doctors discovered three tumors.

Last month, Gilbert reassured fans that the procedure, which took place on February 27, had been successful.

Now, he has shared further details, and some shocking moments, from the ordeal.

New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert Details Scary Health Ordeal

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Gilbert revealed that his hand suddenly stopped working on February 20. It was the same day New Found Glory were performing an album release show.

He recalled vomiting before taking the stage, with his bandmates helping him into a chair so he could still perform in Nashville.

After the show, his condition worsened dramatically. He said he "fell forward on the ground." before losing control of the left side of his body. This prompted an emergency trip to the hospital.

That's when doctors discovered three brain tumors.

Gilbert then spent a month in hospital, undergoing 10 rounds of radiation treatment. The experience was so intense that he hallucinated, believing he was in Japan ordering Okinawaki.

"I feel very, very lucky that I could sit here," he said. "My hope is to really get my energy and strength back. I don't want to lay in bed all day. I want to be able to get up and do my thing."

Long-Term Health Battle Continues for Guitarist

Despite the successful surgery, Gilbert admitted that his touring future will be limited. He said he "won't be able to tour normally ever again," adding that he will likely only "be able to play shows that are close by."

Still, he remains heavily involved with the band as its primary songwriter. Gilbert contributed to several tracks on their new album Listen Up!, including "100%" and "You Got This," both inspired by his personal experiences.

His health struggles date back more than a decade. In 2010, doctors identified "suspicious cells" in his thyroid, leading to surgery to remove part of the gland, though no cancer was ultimately found.

More serious complications followed in December 2021, when Gilbert was found unresponsive at home and required emergency surgery to remove a rare cancerous tumor known as pheochromocytoma.

In 2022, another tumor was discovered in his spine, resulting in further surgery.

Then, in February 2023, additional tumors were found in his lungs and back, leading to what was described as "intense chemotherapy."
