New Country Songs for February 2018

February is an interesting time for new country songs. Early in the month, nearly all of the format's major program directors assemble in Nashville for the annual Country Radio Seminar, which means labels scramble to get their artists (especially new ones) some face time with all of them.

That's why a lot of songs go out in late January, and then there's a lull. But once the seminar ends, it's game on. So with that in mind, let's look at some of the new country songs for February 2018.

Jason Aldean, "You Make It Easy" (Feb. 5)

This R&B-leaning jam hit fans a week ago, but it's already getting plenty of love from the Aldean faithful. There's a little bit of the "Blue Ain't Your Color" vibe with reverbed out guitars, and it's always a nice change of pace to hear a waltz heading to radio.

Maren Morris, "Rich" (Feb. 12)

"Rich" is far from new, seeing as it came off Morris almost two year-old debut Hero. But fans are sure happy to see this certified bop get "singled" out. Cleverly bitter and dripping with sass, "Rich" is the kind of tune that can hopefully break up some radio monotony.

Sir Rosevelt, "Something 'Bout You" (Feb. 12)

Well you may not know the band name, but you definitely know the singer. The pop side-project of Zac Brown Band, Sir Rosevelt released "Something 'Bout You" in November, but recent streaming numbers (over five million strong on Spotify alone) indicate plenty of love for this tender jam.

Aaron Watson, "Run Wild Horses" (Feb. 19)

Again, not new to Watson fans, but "Run Wild Horses" is one of the funkiest songs from the Texas country stalwart. It could just be intriguing enough to curry favor as a standalone single. After 20 years, Watson saw his highest-charting single "Outta Style" make it to the top 10 of Country Airplay.

Jimmie Allen, "Best Shot" (Feb. 20)

Newcomer Jimmie Allen's song "Best Shot" is getting some love on streaming, and it's easy to see why. Anchored by smooth vocals and tried-and-true pop melodies, "Best Shot" isn't far from the sizzlingly popular sphere of Brett Young.

Brett Young, "Mercy" (Feb. 20)

Speaking of Brett Young, the crooner is looking to make it three straight No. 1 singles with "Mercy." If you were expected anything other than a heartbreak ballad, you'll be sorely disappointed. But if you're looking for Young to do what he's been doing best, then get ready to hear "Mercy" on the airwaves. A lot.
