The 37-year-old former NBA MVP shared the news on Aug. 12 with a creative video narrated by the Sinners actor on social media.

Russell Westbrook Visits "The Museum of Unspoken Answers"

In the three-and-a-half-minute video, Westbrook looks back on his 18 seasons of achievements and milestones in a venue named "The Museum of Unspoken Answers."

Jordan says, "Some stories... just speak for themselves... I'm not going to tell you what any of this means. I'm just going to show you."

And there's a lot to watch. There is his childhood growing up in Los Angeles to being the 4th pick in the draft in 2008. With Kevin Durant and James Harden, Westbrook made the Oklahoma City Thunder a force to be reckoned with when they reached the finals in 2012. Sadly, they lost to the Miami Heat in five games. Westbrook also played for the Wizards, Lakers, Clippers, Nuggets, and Kings.

The MVP Award Doesn't Define Westbrook

As the camera pans to the MVP trophy Westbrook won during the 2016-2017 season, Jordan waxes poetic about the achievement.

"This is the one people point to, like [the MVP] explains everything," Jordan says. "It doesn't."

Then the actor asks the league's all-time leader in triple-doubles a rhetorical question: "What made you get up night after night when the whole league had a highlight reel of you falling down?"

Westbrook says nothing. Jordan adds with an audible smirk, "Yeah, I figured that."

The video also talks about how Westbrook went from a basketball phenom to one of the most intense personalities on the court. But that's also doesn't define who he is. The nine-time All-Star is also a family man with a passion for fashion. And though this might be the end of an era for him, Westbrook isn't done. As he walks in an area that is under construction, Jordan says, "This wing isn't finished yet."

"That's not a mistake," he then adds. "We left it this way on purpose. Because whatever's next, the mentorship, the foundation, the kids who are gonna grow up wanting to move just like he did, that part hasn't been built yet either.

"This wing isn't finished; neither is he. That's the point."
