Former NBA Star’s Son Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges

Zaire Wade, the son of NBA legend Dwyane Wade, has been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence following an alleged incident.

The son of NBA legend Dwyane Wade has been arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse.

Zaire Wade, 24, was arrested on Sunday, June 21, and booked in Los Angeles, according to arrest records.

According to PEOPLE, he was held on a $50,000 bond, which was posted later that same day.

The alleged victim, whose identity has not been released, has been granted an emergency protective order.

NBA Star's Son Arrested on Domestic Violence Allegations

According to TMZ, Wade was booked on three charges: felony domestic violence, criminal threats, and false imprisonment.

Police sources, as cited by NBC Los Angeles, said the alleged incident occurred in Burbank, California.

Authorities responded to the scene at around 5:30 a.m. local time after receiving reports of a woman screaming.

When officers arrived, they allegedly found the woman with "lacerations on her face and body," although she did not require hospitalization.

"He was arrested and booked for domestic violence, criminal threats, and false imprisonment," a Burbank Police spokesperson said. "Detectives will be presenting the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office for filing considerations."

Police also reportedly recovered a handgun from the property.

Case Awaits District Attorney's Review

The case will now be reviewed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, with additional details expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.

Zaire Wade briefly pursued a professional basketball career after playing at the high school level.

In October 2021, he was selected with the 10th overall pick in the NBA G League Draft by the Salt Lake City Stars, the affiliate of the Utah Jazz, where his father, Dwyane Wade, owns a minority stake.

He has also played internationally, signing with the Cape Town Tigers of the Basketball Africa League in 2023 before later joining the Macau Black Bears in the Asian Tournament.

Dwyane Wade, 44, shares daughter Kaavia, 7, with his wife, Gabrielle Union.

He is also the father of Zaya, 19, and Zaire, with his ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches, and Xavier, 11, with Aja Metoyer. The NBA Hall of Famer is also the legal guardian of his 22-year-old nephew, Dahveon Morris.
