The home of Dave Marcis, a former NASCAR driver, was recently burglarized. Two people have reportedly been charged in connection with the alleged incident, per PEOPLE.

According to a news release from the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), the 85-year-old's residence was broken into on August 28. Multiple "personal and irreplaceable" items were said to have been stolen during the break-in. Fortunately, the Sheriff's Office did note that most of the stolen items have since been recovered.
"Buncombe County, NC (September 11, 2026) Buncombe County Sheriff's Office Detectives worked with Henderson County Sheriff's Office Detectives to arrest two people involved in breaking into the home of retired NASCAR driver David Marcis,"
the news release said. "A majority of the items stolen from Mr. Marcis have been recovered."The news release continued by detailing the charges each of the alleged culprits has since been charged with.
"BCSO Detectives worked with Henderson County Detectives to arrest and charge Hailey Bowlin with Probation Violation on September 2nd. The next day, BCSO Detectives charged Bowlin with Second Degree Burglary, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Larceny of a Firearm, Larceny After Breaking and Entering, and five counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. She is being held in the Henderson County Detention Center."
BCSO Captain Releases Statement on Burglary of Dave Marcis' Home
Later in the news release, Captain Dustan Auldredge of the BCSO released a statement regarding the incident.
"Many of the items taken from Mr. Marcis were personal and irreplaceable. We are grateful for the work our Criminal Investigations Division, our Patrol Deputies, and our colleagues at the Henderson County Sheriff's Office put into this case. Their dedication led to the recovery of most of his property and the arrests made in this case."
With most of the items now recovered, Marcis will likely want to put the whole situation behind him. After all, a burglary can be a highly traumatic experience, regardless of whether you're present at the time of the break-in.
The quicker the situation is closed, the sooner Marcis can get back to enjoying his retirement. Unfortunately, Marcis isn't the first sports star to have his home burglarized this year. What's worse is he likely won't be the last, either.
