The Nashville Fairground Speedway has got to be one of the most iconic parts of NASCAR. But it hasn't hosted a Cup Series race since 1984.
But that might change soon - the former Nashville mayor, John Cooper, announced that Nashville had signed a letter of intent to renovate the Fairgrounds Speedway. However, the current mayor shows very little interest in that project.
That's partly because of noise complaints. Lots of people seem to really be against the idea of both the noise of the cars whizzing by and the noise of the fans near their homes.
But Ryan Preece thinks that they're all blowing a lot of hot air over nothing. According to Whiskey Riff, he said during a podcast episode that people shouldn't get frustrated if they chose to live there.
"I haven't heard much on it as of right now," he said, "but I'm just gonna give you my personal opinion. If you move near a race track, that's your problem. You made that decision."
"It's so mind blowing that you know there's a race track there, and then you move there, and then you are going to complain about the noise. Like, go move somewhere else."

The NASCAR Driver is Nostalgic for the Past
Preece added that his view sort of comes from back in the day, where people would say what he's thinking. "I wish we lived like it was probably thirty or forty years ago, where, if someone complained about noise, [the general response] is like, 'You chose to live here - this is your problem.'"
He went on to explain that this wasn't the first time this has happened, either. People had the same issue in Midtown Nashville when the bars popped up there, too.
"There were people who had moved - they had built some condos or something beside one of the big bars down there - and then people moved in and were complaining about the noise from the bars and the music.
"Yeah, and so they had to try to figure out... might be important to take a drive around wherever you're about to move, and seriously, it's really easy."
What do you think about this? I personally think it's hard not to be on Ryan Preece's side on this one. I'd personally love to hear all the races from my backyard!
