Elena Katherine Moore's cause of death is still a mystery even though her preliminary autopsy results have been released. The South Carolina personal trainer, 39, allegedly went missing on Thursday, June 11. She was seen exiting a Planet Fitness located at 560 Whiteford Way in Lexington, South Carolina, that evening, per the Lexington Police Department. Then, on Wednesday, June 17, a female body clad in clothing matching what Moore was wearing at the time of her disappearance was found in the area of Old Cherokee Road.

On Friday, June 19, the
Lexington County Coroner's Office announced on Facebook that the deceased woman had been positively identified as Moore. Preliminary findings about her cause of death were made public three days later on Monday, June 22. According to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher on Facebook, "The autopsy did not identify an immediate cause of death. Examination of the body revealed no evidence of traumatic injury, including no bruising, lacerations, gunshot wounds, stab wounds, blunt force trauma, strangulation, or other external injuries. As a result, the cause of death remains pending at this time. Additional evaluation is required, including histological studies, review of medical records, and toxicology testing."
In the coroner's post dated Friday, June 19, the positive identification of the body was announced. The following information was also stated. "Please note that determining a final cause and manner of death is a thorough process that may take several days or weeks to complete."
Moore Had Allegedly Been Behaving Oddly in the Days Before She Vanished
Per WRDW, Elena Katherine Moore reportedly appeared on a neighbor's Ring doorbell camera. That was about a week prior to her disappearance. Her behavior at that time seemed very peculiar. For some reason, she picked up a bag containing a food delivery they had gotten. Then Moore also bizarrely tried to walk into their home as they opened their door.
Clearly, there is much more to be learned abut what befell Elena Katherine Moore and led to her puzzling demise.
