Yankees Icon's Son's Death: New Details Emerging
The Gardner family was just enjoying their vacation at their luxury Costa Rican hotel. That was until they woke up one morning to find their 14-year old son, Miller, dead. Naturally it was a surprise to the family, and they immediately began searching for answers.
The Daily Mail reported that the son of ex-Yankees hero Brett, and his family, "did not eat at their luxury Costa Rican hotel for lunch or dinner the day before" his unfortunate death. Originally, the cause of death was assumed to be asphyxiation. Miller was found with vomit around him and "Preliminary reports from Costa Rica's Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ) attributed the death to 'asphyxiation due to intoxication related to food poisoning'."
However, upon further investigation it was proven that asphyxiation was not the cause of death. Costa Rica's Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ) admitted that there was "no obstruction of the airways." Therefore "asphyxia was later ruled out by forensic medicine " as the cause of death. However it is still believed that the entire family was suffering from food poisoning.
The entire family reported feeling unwell and showing signs of illness after eating at a different hotel than the one they were staying at. CNN shares that the family was treated by their hotel's doctor and given medication to help ease an upset stomach.

While asphyxiation has been ruled out, investigators have not yet determined a cause of death. The family is now waiting for toxicology reports to help them better understand the Yankees Icon's son's death.
Also, the OIJ is looking for security footage from the hotel to see if they find anything suspicious. Additionally, they are questioning employees about what they may have seen. The hotel is fully cooperating with authorities regarding the investigation.
They released the following statement. ""We remain committed to supporting our guests and staff, prioritizing their well-being and safety, while respecting the privacy of those affected." For now, Miller's family has admitted that he passed while in his sleep.
The Daily Mail shares his family's statement. "We have so many questions and so few answers at this point, but we do know that he passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday, March 21st."
