Romeo Bongiovi, the son of the legendary Jon Bon Jovi, has always felt pulled toward the music industry. He shared his long-held desire to become a musician during a recent appearance on 'The Dory Jackson' interview series.

During the interview, Romeo recalled his previous belief that if he truly wanted to pursue music, going to college wasn't the right approach.
"For the longest time in middle school, when I knew I wanted to do music, I was like, 'Man, but if you go to a college for music, you're a total poser,'" he said.
However, as the interview continued, Romeo admitted that studying music from an academic standpoint was somewhat scary. He noted that he didn't know much about music theory.
"I didn't know how to compose anything," Romeo continued. "I just knew that I liked music, and I knew that I loved performing and I knew that I loved writing."
However, Romeo now looks back on his time at college, where he attended the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, as a big reason why he's where he is today.
"I remember touring Miami and seeing the campuses and being like, 'Okay, this is for me.' That was like the nail on the coffin. I was 16 and I knew that, 'Okay, music is what you want to do because for the first time you really feel at home here.'"
Jon Bon Jovi Is a Fan of His Son's Singles
Jon Bon Jovi knows what it takes to make a hit song. After all, he's had more than most. So, when he spoke with The Independent about Romeo's music in 2024, people paid attention.
"The first singles are great," Bon Jovi said. "That's all I've heard."
The "Livin' On A Prayer" singer then noted that Romeo hasn't let him have anything to do with his music.
"People talk about these nepo babies, blah blah blah, but I'm not in there at all. He's got his own vision, which I really appreciate."
Romeo is part of "Lawn," a fairly new rock band. The group is based in Los Angeles and released their EP 'House Party Hero' in 2025.
