Music Legend Dies
"We are very sorry to announce that Bonnie has been admitted to the hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she has a home, for emergency intestinal surgery," a statement shared on her website read. "The surgery went well, and she is now recuperating. We know that all of her family, friends, and fans will be concerned about this news and will be wishing her well for a full and swift recovery."
Sadly, the music legend did not recover. Although doctors brought her out of her coma, she remained very unwell. Tyler spent the last month in intensive care, where she sadly passed away.
"We would like to thank everyone for the huge outpouring of love and support from all over the world that we have received for Bonnie and want to tell you that she is aware of, and very grateful for, your good wishes," Tyler's team wrote in their final statement before Thursday.
At this time, her family has not revealed a cause of death. Prior to her health issues, the "Total Eclipse of the Heart" legend was set to tour in Europe. But sadly, she never made it to the tour, falling ill before her first date in Malta.
She previously expressed her excitement to tour.
"I'm fit enough at the moment, touch wood, and I'm really enjoying doing the shows," she told Hello! Magazine. "I'm still rocking on that stage with my wonderful band, and if you've got your health, you've got everything."
Our thoughts are with her family.
