Music icon Barry Manilow has announced that he is taking a break from touring. As reported by People, this comes days after he'd previously abruptly cancelled concerts.
He announced his touring pause in a post on social media on Tuesday, August 25. "Hi everybody - Barry here," he wrote. "And I want you to be the first to know that we're going to take a quick break."
He continued by explaining that he's been pretty busy touring these past few weeks. "We just finished a fantastic summer tour," he wrote. "29 shows in 68 days. The shows were fantastic, the audiences were fantastic, and I sounded fantastic," he explained.
"But it seems that we were pushing a little too hard," the music icon wrote. "Now we all need to sit down and shut up. So, we're going to take a break until we return to the Westgate Las Vegas on October 8th, when I'll be singing like a bird. I hope to see you then."
An addendum to his statement confirmed that new dates for the Westgate concerts will be announced as of next week.

The Music Icon Previously Abruptly Cancelled Concerts
This comes just a few weeks after the music icon was forced to cancel his Lexington, Kentucky concert just minutes before it was scheduled to start.
We reported on it when it happened. "Due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight's show in Lexington has been rescheduled," he wrote. There was no officially given reason for the cancellation.
Fans were supportive, and were mostly just worried about his health. At the time, one commenter wrote, "I'm worried about your health, please make your health a top priority. You're always in my heart, Barry."
This sudden cancellation was followed by two other cancellations for shows just a few days ago. As we reported, he'd also cancelled two shows at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino - they were scheduled to happen on August 21 and 22.
And those are the very first dates the music icon is set to return to the stage on, per his announcement.
