Multiple People Shot at Party in South Carolina

A festive gathering turned violent when a block party on Oliver Road in North, South Carolina, became a lethal shooting scene, That melee allegedly took place during the wee hours of Sunday, June 21. Per a

Facebook post that same day from the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said this. "We are aggressively investigating the incident and are seeking any information you have. Anyone who witnessed the incident, has information about the shooting, or possesses photos, videos, or other evidence is encouraged to come forward." The post added that several people were hurt in that shooting.

The Gathering Became Deadly for One Victim

Per WLTX News 19, there were allegedly "more than 200 shots" fired at the time. One individual reportedly lost his life in the gunfire. His name, according to the outlet, was Wesley Dunbar. He was 23 years old.

Deputies arrived at the wild scene shortly after midnight, according to documents reviewed by the outlet. One of them allegedly witnessed and heard bullets hitting the ground close to a police vehicle. Furthermore, Wesley Dunbar was also discovered tragically deceased in the street.

Chandra Gibbs, who is the chief deputy with the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office, observed, "A deceased male in the roadway and then we were also able to identify a couple of others that did have some injuries as a result of gunshot wounds."

Deputies Heard a Hail of Gunshots

Per the outlet, an incident report allegedly stated that law enforcement authorities at the scene "heard more than 200 gunshots," in the outlet's words. The total number of people shot is uncertain, but unnamed officials reportedly said that the injured were recovering. The identity of the suspect(s) and the motive for the shooting have yet to be ascertained.

Nevertheless, Chandra Gibbs of the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office said per the outlet, "We do consider any time that something of this nature happens we consider them [the suspects] to be armed and we do consider them to be dangerous."

North's Mayor Wants To Prevent Anything Like This From Happening in the Future

The violence left Mayor Jeff Washington aghast. He is eager to prevent a repeat. Per the outlet, Washington said, "I'm going to do all I can to shut it down." The mayor was likely referring to future block parties in North.
