Several rounds of gunfire rang out at the Bite of Seattle food festival, sending attendees running for safety.
Two men, 19 and 44, were killed in the tragic shooting. Additionally, a 56-year-old woman died after being rushed to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.
One gunman surrendered after being confronted by police. Another shooter remains at large after they fled the 74-acre Seattle Center, which was hosting the Bite of Seattle event, Assistant Seattle Police Chief Tyrone Davis said at a news conference.
"There were two people who we believe were shooting at each other," Davis said.
Davis added that it may have been more than two shooters.
"There may be more (shooters)," Davis said. "We're still trying to figure this out."
Four people -- including a two-year-old boy, a 23-year-old man and two women -- were injured in the crossfire, but are said to be stable.
The injured toddler appeared to be conscious but wasn't crying while being treated by paramedics, according to witness Michael Girardi.
"The mother [was] in anguish," he told the Seattle Times.
Bite of Seattle Mass Shooting Details
According to SPD Assistant Police Chief Davis, seven people were shot at the event. Two people, a 19-year-old man and a 44-year-old man, were confirmed dead at the scene. A third, a 56-year-old woman, later died at the hospital.
Four others were injured with a range of injuries to their arms, legs, abdomens, and lower legs, according to Seattle Fire.
Of the four injured, only the toddler remains hospitalized. Thankfully, the toddler is expected to recover fully.
Davis said the person taken into custody is "a young person," who was being questioned. That person was the only one officers saw opening fire, he said. Police did not discharge their weapons during the confrontation.
On Monday morning, the Youth Peace & Justice Foundation announced a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of any outstanding suspect(s) connected to Sunday's deadly shooting.
The investigation is ongoing.
