According to WNDU, the incident took place on August 29, 2024, in South Bend, Indiana. Reportedly, White's "game" involved racing her children to her car, locking the doors, and pretending to leave them behind. White's six-year-old daughter revealed these details to a police investigator and said that the August incident took an unexpected and scary turn.

According to the child, White was driving "faster than normal," with the 8-year-old daughter holding onto the car's door handle. The girl would then get her foot caught on the vehicle's rear tire, with the tire pulling her to the ground. Her head violently hit the floor, causing her a skull fracture and multiple orbital fractures too. Moreover, she suffered bruises, lost five teeth, and suffered a face cut so deep that it reached the bone, according to Law & Crime. White was driving at around 15 to 20 mph.

The girl was quickly rushed to the hospital, and physicians were able to stabilize her. They had to intubate her and submit her to IV sedation before she was released from the hospital.

Arrested And Sentenced

At the time, police arrested and charged Jasmine White with a count of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious injury and a count of neglect of a dependent. Initially, White pleaded guilty to the charges but subsequently changed her mind and pleaded guilty, as per PEOPLE. She was sentenced to nine years in prison, five of which will be suspended. The first four will be served in St. Joseph County Community Corrections.

This incident comes a month after a 20-year-old father ran over his 8-month-old baby in Jacksonville, Florida. Reportedly, Justin Golden engaged in a heated argument with the mother of the baby before the incident took place. He then placed him in the middle of the street, running over him moments later. The baby was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead. Golden faces aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide charges.
