Mother Charged For Allegedly Killing 2-Year-Old Daughter And Dumping Body In Pond

A 42-year-old British mother, Alice Mackey, has been charged with murder two years after her 2-year-old, Annabel Mackey, was reported missing only to be found unresponsive at a local pond. Back in September 2023, Annabel was pronounced dead after arriving at a hospital.

According to a press release issued by the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, authorities were called back on Sunday, September 10, 2023, and received a missing persons report. Annabel had gone missing from her Forge Road home in Kingsley.

Just a day later, on Monday, September 11, 2023, Annabel was found unresponsive at Kingsley Pond. According to PEOPLE, said pond is located just 350 yards away from Annabel's house. She was quickly transported to a local hospital to receive treatment. However, later that day, she tragically died as a result of her condition.

Arrested And Charged

On Tuesday, March 4, authorities arrested Alice Mackey and charged her with the murder of Annabel. She was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. According to the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary press release, Major Crime Team detectives were in charge of Annabel's death investigation. They also investigated her movements before she was found unresponsive at Kingsley Pond.

Following the arrest of Alice Mackey, Annabel's father, who remains unnamed, shared a touching and emotional statement with the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary.

"Annabel was a beautiful, positive and very happy little girl," the statement reads. "She had an incredibly pure and caring nature that we miss so much." Her father then described that Annabel loved "story time," "dogs," and her "dolly. "She enjoyed singing songs and nursery rhymes and had a very sweet tooth," he continued.

"She was dearly loved by her family and friends. Thank you to everyone who was a positive influence in her life. Please continue Annabel's legacy by remembering her and caring for others as much as she did."

"The world needs more people like Annabel to spread positivity and kindness," Annabel's father concludes. "Annabel, I love you so much, you are a shining star and you will be loved forever x."
