According to a press release issued by the Santa Ana Police Department, they received a call from Ramaraju herself claiming that she had killed her son by stabbing him to death. The call came through on Wednesday, March 19, at around 9:12 a.m. The alleged murder took place at a La Quinta Inn & Suites room in Santa Ana. Ramaraju also told police she had ingested an "unknown substance."
Officers arrived at the hotel and detained Saritha Ramaraju, transporting her to a local hospital. Meanwhile, after entering the hotel room, they found the 11-year-old boy Ramaraju admitted to killing with multiple stab wounds and a slit throat. Orange County Fire Authority personnel declared the child dead at the scene. Police found a large kitchen knife and evidence suggests the boy had died hours before Ramaraju's 911 call.
Custody Visit
Heartbreakingly, as per the Orange County District Attorney's Office, the child was found dead in a bed alongside Disneyland souvenirs her mother had bought for him on their previous Disneyland visit. Ramaraju had divorced the boy's father in 2018. Before the 11-year-old's death, she had gone on the trip with the boy as part of their custody visit. The day she allegedly stabbed her son to death, she was supposed to return the 11-year-old to his father.
A day later, on Thursday, March 20, Ramaraju was released from hospital. The DA's office stated that she had taken pills to commit suicide. She was booked into Santa Ana Jail and charged with one count of murder and one count of enhancement of personal use of a weapon. As per the Santa Ana Police Department, she was also charged with child endangerment, torture, and aggravated mayhem.
Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer addressed the case. "The life of a child should not hang in the balance between two parents whose anger for each other outweighs their love for their child," Spitzer said.
"Anger can make you forget who you love and what you are responsible for doing. The safest place for a child should be in their parents' arms. Instead of wrapping her arms around her son in love, she slit his throat and in the cruelest twist of fate removed him from the very world she brought him into."
According to PEOPLE, Saritha Ramaraju's next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, April 17.

I earned $30k last month just by working online in my spare time. I didn’t expect much when I first started, [CTY-99] but this job turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. The work is super simple—mostly copy-paste work—and the payments come every single week, always on time. I didn’t need any experience to start. If you want to earn from home without any pressure, I highly recommend trying this.
