An unknown recorder captured the awful moment a mother allegedly abused their baby using fire and her hands. The video was sent to a Honduras news page on X and was evidence that led to her arrest. The video is extremely shocking. Viewer discretion is advised.
Críticas Con Café, the news page, reported that the video was captured in "a small island, Boca del Río Viejo, in the municipality of Marcovia, Choluteca."
"Child abuse must be stopped!" they wrote, "A woman, who cannot be called a mother, who has already been arrested, tried to vent her frustration on the minor!"
The video showed the person recording rushing to a room where the mother, Darlyn Pérez, used a lighter to burn her daughter. As the child screamed hysterically, the mother kept a lighter against her clothes and bottom.
After prolonged exposure to the lighter, Pérez then smacks the child twice, her whole body recoiling at each hit. Pérez then walked away from her daughter, before smacking the phone out of the recorder's hands.
It is unknown who the recorder is, although it is possible one of Pérez's other children.
Mother Arrested After Burning And Hitting Daughter
Authorities arrested Pérez after the video came to light. The authorities escorted Pérez while a local reporter caught up with her.
"I regret it," the mother sobbed. She was asked what drove her to commit such a violent act, to which she replied, "I don't know. I was calm. I don't mistreat my girl."
She then confirmed that it was the first time she's done such a thing. "I take care of my daughter, I would never do it again."
According to the Daily Mail, her children were removed from the home and taken in by the Secretariat of Children, Adolescents and Family. The child's siblings are aged 1 and 6.
Pérez is facing charges of aggravated family abuse to the detriment of her daughter, according to the Special Children's Prosecutor's Office, per Girasol TV.
