Abdul Aziz Khan was only 7 years old when he mysteriously vanished from his home in Atlanta, Georgia. He went missing in November 2017. According to a press release by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a trespass call at around 3:37 pm on February 23. A witness reported a burglary at a residence in Kelliwood Way in Highlands Ranch, at a vacant property listed for sale.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found two children in a car outside the building. Shortly after, a man and woman exited the property, claiming to be realtors. Deputies questioned the pair and quickly punched holes in their story. It reportedly took four hours to verify their identities.

Police identified the woman as Rabia Khalid, 40, who had an active warrant for kidnapping. Authorities also ascertained that the elder child in the vehicle was 14 years old. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office explains that an investigation revealed that Khalid allegedly abducted her son, Abdul Aziz Khan, as a non-custodial parent in 2017. Deputies connected the dots and realized the now 14-year-old was Khan. Khalid was charged with felony kidnapping, and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Police have identified the man accompanying Khalid as Elliot Blake Bourgeois, 42. Officers booked him into Douglas County Jail for multiple offenses, including Identity Theft, Forgery, Trespassing, and Second-Degree Kidnapping. Both have a $1 million bond.

Per the press release, the children are in protective custody. Authorities have not released the identity of the younger child. U.S. Marshal Enix Smith III for the Eastern District of Louisiana thanked authorities at Douglas County. He also thanked NCMEC, Netflix's Unsolved Mysteries, and Crimestoppers GNO for focusing public attention on the matter.

Police have arrested Khalid and Bourgeois and recovered Khan but stress that the case is still ongoing and that more information is required. The press release concludes by asking anyone with information to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
