Mostly Made Meals: Get Dinner on the Table with Pre-Made Fillings Delivered to Your Door

When you think about making weeknight dinners, what part always seems to take the longest? If you think prepping dinner recipe ingredients like veggies is the most time-consuming part of getting dinner on the table, you're not alone. There's a reason 30-minute meals are popular and that's because, with prep time, they're finished in just a half-hour. And one company, Mostly Made, is helping make it oh so easy.

Sometimes, though, to cut corners, we often end up using canned ingredients to make up our easy meals. While there's absolutely nothing wrong with that and a big part of budget-friendly, wholesome dinners are about making the most of what you can, what if you had the option of using fresh ingredients that were already prepped?

Mostly Made is a company that specializes in pre-made fillings so that meal assembly, for dinner in particular, is a snap.

The fillings are delivered frozen in a boil-in-a-bag sleeve for easy defrosting. The packages will arrive in three days from a shipping fulfillment service that specializes in perishable food.

Enchilada Filling and Lasagna Filling are the first two types to be introduced by Mostly Made. They currently fulfilled their Kickstarter campaign and are now available in select stores.

There's no limit to what you can do with the fillings, either.

The Enchilada filling includes chicken and black beans, braised in tomatoes, cilantro, chipotle, and a pound of fresh vegetables (bell pepper, onions, tomato, zucchini, poblano pepper, cilantro, quinoa, and garlic).

For the Enchilada filling, you could stuff peppers, fill tortillas for burritos, create enchiladas, and top baked potatoes.

If you love a Chipotle chicken burrito bowl, simply pair this filling with rice for a filling and delicious dinner.

The Lasagna filling includes Italian sausage, crushed tomatoes, basil, and a pound of fresh vegetables (mushrooms, bell pepper, onions, zucchini, quinoa, and garlic).

You could make lasagna with the filling, or you could top a pizza, make calzones, stuff peppers, make a pasta, or create Italian burritos.

Creator Jillian McGary designed Mostly Made meals after her sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer.

She realized that it wasn't the actual cooking that took time, but the prep work required to make dinners, especially dinners in bulk.

Soon, she realized that casseroles are bulky in freezers and rarely can be stored in a compact way. So she started making fillings to bring instead and found more creativity with how they can be used to suit a certain craving on any given weeknight.

Mostly Made can be found in grocery stores in Minnesota, Illinois, and Wisconson.
