Through the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation, the Morgan Wallen Foundation has donated instruments to the Knoxville school district. The gesture was intended to help West High School get its new orchestra program off the ground. The program's director, Rachel Pena, says the orchestra is an art form "not as represented" in East Tennessee.

Pena also founded the orchestra program at Bearden Middle School in the area in 2021. She was able to get a grant from Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation, then, as well. Since then, Rachel has watched the program expand from 30 to 150 students in just a few short years.

"We have a lot of band enthusiasts in East Tennessee as it makes sense, right, with UT and football and all that. But orchestra is more of like a smaller population, and so it's exciting to have resources for it because I feel like our band programs are really robust, and so we need to do that work for the orchestra programs," she tells Knox News.

Through his foundation, Wallen has donated three double basses, seven cellos, seven violas, and nine violins to West High School. The total value of the instruments was about $38,717.

Wallen Donates $1.2 Million To Gibbs High School

In addition to the instruments given to West High School, the Morgan Wallen Foundation has been known to donate heavily to sports facilities in Tennessee. Wallen has a sentimental connection to baseball, especially since he played for several years in high school. That was, until his senior year, when he tore the UCL in his elbow. Sports were an outlet for the country singer, but his injury would push him to focus more heavily on his songwriting and artistry.

Wallen has also taken a special interest in revitalizing fields in underrepresented areas. Through this passion, he has helped renovate the Parkwood Community Club in Nashville, according to Sports Events. Wallen has also donated a significant amount of money to Gibb's High School's athletic facilities, of which he is an alumni.

In late 2025, Morgan Wallen donated $1.2 million to the school. As a token of thanks, they renamed their baseball diamond "Morgan Wallen Field."
