More Than 500K Soups, Dips and Salsas Hit With FDA’s Highest-Risk Recall Over Infection Concerns

The recall affects tens of products due to a common contaminant present in an ingredient. The FDA have classified the recall as Class I.

The FDA have recalled over 500,000 soups, dips and salsas. They have designated the recall as a Class I recall.

This is the highest level of risk for a recall to have, meaning "there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death."

What is Wrong With the Products?

The products have been hit with a recall because of the fact they may contain Salmonella. According to the FDA, Salmonella can do the following:

  • Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
  • In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Customers with concerns about the recall should contact [email protected], or (713) 278-0425.
