Watch Montgomery Gentry's New Video for 'Get Down South'

Before you press play on Montgomery Gentry's official music video for their new single "Get Down South," know in advance that you'll be hearing the catchy song in your head all day. Thankfully, the country rock tune isn't an earworm you'll fight to get rid of.

"Get Down South," written by Troy Johnson, Bob Moffat, Clint Moffat and John Wiggins, is the second single (after "Better Me") released off of Montgomery Gentry's February 2018 record, Here's To You, which quickly climbed to the top of the Billboard Country Albums Chart. Sadly, the record was completed only days before Troy Gentry's tragic death in a helicopter accident that took place before the band was set to play a show in September 2017.

Knowing how proud and excited Gentry was about their latest work, Eddie Montgomery pushed forward with the release of the album to share their new music with fans despite the heartache of missing his dear friend and bandmate. In "Get Down South," Gentry's vocals can be heard during the soaring chorus, which at first, can give the song a bittersweet feeling. But Montgomery's spoken word storytelling combined with the visuals of the music video will transport listeners into the cheery soul of a small town.

Through the video, we watch as a city gal is taken out of downtown Nashville and into the open green landscape of Tennessee with her country boyfriend. She slowly relaxes into the new setting and begins to appreciate the small town vibe where the simple life and country music are celebrated.

"Get Down South" Lyrics:

Way out here there ain't no parking lots
It's a big green field and we just pick a spot
Grab a cooler and a folding chair
Just start walking, it's right down there
Tonight we're gonna get rowdy
Get out the Coke and Crown me
Stir it up in a Dixie paper cup

'Cause that's how we get down south
When you're living in a real small town
And there ain't nothing else around going on
You want a party, gotta make your own
Get down south, if you've never let your redneck out
Or had moonshine in your mouth
You gotta get down, get down south

Yeah I'm gonna shoot the bull and chew the fat
Catch up with the boys about this and that
Till the beans and the cornbread's gone
And maybe a little later on
I'm gonna find a girl and say howdy
And when the band gets loud we gonna rock the barn out on the farm

'Cause that's how we get down south
When you're living in a real small town
And there ain't nothing else around going on
You want a party, gotta make your own
Get down south, if you've never let your redneck out
Or had moonshine in your mouth
You gotta get down, get down south

Hey, if you ever get tired of the city
And that same ole crowd
Just call me up and come with me and I'll show you how
We get down south
When you're living in a real small town
And there ain't nothing else around going on
You want a party, gotta make your own
Get down south, if you've never let your redneck out
Or had moonshine in your mouth
You gotta get down, get down south

Come on, come on
And get down south

Hey, hey
Get down, get down south
