Sipping on a hot honey and lemon to treat a cold is all well and good, but when a real medical emergency happens, it's best to leave the home remedies behind and take a trip to the ER.

A mom has been sentenced to three years in prison after neglecting to take her daughter to the ER while she struggled with an asthma attack. Rather than getting her the necessary treatment she desperately required, the mom used home remedies instead. As a result, her daughter died a few days later.
While the 9-year-old girl was at a sleepover at her friend's house, she began suffering from an asthma attack. She was using an inhaler, but the friend's parents noticed it wasn't hers, instead belonging to her grandma. The girl told the parents that hers was empty. Apparently, her parents didn't have a car to pick up a new one.
So, the friend's mom called her parents to ask if she would like them to take her to a hospital for the asthma attack. According to the report, her father sighed and behaved with impatience, asking instead for them to just bring her home.
Negligence And Laziness Led To Asthma Death Of 9-Year-Old
When the friend's parents dropped off the girl still suffering from the asthma attack, they reported that she could barely walk. However, the girl's mother and father made no attempt to help her, leaving her to struggle alone.
The father later told police that the girl's inhaler was empty for at least a month. However, despite it being essential to her well-being, they never got it refilled. Instead, they relied on home remedies. According to the report, the mom and dad instead used things like a steam bath, to try and keep her breathing during her asthma attack.
This was ineffective, and the girl was finally taken to hospital more than three hours later. However, by this point, it was far too late. The young girl was pronounced brain-dead due to a lack of oxygen in the brain. "Multiple doctors were consulted, including a Pediatric Critical Care doctor, who stated that Victim would have had a much better chance to survive with earlier medical intervention and explained how important early medical intervention is for asthma," the report said.
Due to the mom and dad of the poor girl's lack of action during her asthma attack, she died. They instead chose to resort to lazy home remedies rather than taking a trip to the hospital. It is a clear case of negligence.
