Amy Tatlock had entered cancer remission after months of gruelling treatment. She was described as a fighter. But then, a tragic freak accident claimed her life.
As reported by People, her son, Christian Tatlock, opened up about her hard-fought battle with the disease. "She battled cancer and defeated it last year in October. She wasn't going down without a fight."
But, what ended up tragically killing her was not cancer, but a freak tree branch accident. During a storm in Corinth, Maine, a large tree branch had struck her vehicle, killing her.
Christian explained that "only something as crazy and as questionable as this could take her out." He remembered her as "the strongest woman" he knew.
He remembered his mother as a pillar in the Corinth community, and "a light in so many lives". She had worked as a volunteer bus driver, as well as a Girl Scouts troop leader.
"Remember her as the giving, loving, courageous mother, grandma, friend, sister, aunt - everything that she was - instead of the tragedy. I want everyone to remember her and her heart," he lamented.

Her Husband Also Lamented the Cancer Survivor's Passing
"I feel very numb", said Andrew Tatlock, Amy's husband. "We look around the house, and you feel like she's gonna walk in, but we know she's not going to. I will be thinking about her every day."
Following her passing, a GoFundMe fundraiser was set up by Amy's daughter, Michaela Tatlock. It's entitled "A Loving Farewell to Amy Tatlock."
The description reads, "My mom, Amy Tatlock was an amazing selfless woman who devoted her whole life to being a staying at home mom. She was killed by a tree that was struck by lightning suddenly, with no life insurance leaving my dad widowed."
"I'm not one to do this but I'm asking for help with funeral arrangements and an urn to help alleviate the pain for my dad and our family. The love and support we've been shown is an overwhelming one and I thank everyone that reached out."
"I just need time to grieve the loss of my mother and my daughter's grandmother at this time."
As of Monday, July 20, there has been almost $17,000 raised in support of the funeral costs.
